Row Houses
Stanford University, Stanford, California
SWLA has completed the renovation of two of the historic Row Houses at Stanford University. Constructed over 100 years ago, the houses have been used as private homes, fraternities and now small group student residences. Hammarskjold House is situated in a formal residential neighborhood while Synergy House is located on a large, wooded site and has the character of a secluded country estate. Renovation plans for the houses included improving accessibility and other improvements to bring the building up to current code. Landscape improvements include new bike parking, kitchen gardens, dining terraces and lawn areas for outdoor activities. The landscape design is planned to preserve and enhance the unique character of the individual houses.
