The Presidio Trust has completed renovation of Pershing Hall on the Main Post for use as a small inn. The former bachelor officer’s quarters has 22 guest rooms, a guest lounge and dining room that preserve the character of the building. The Inn also has a small back garden enclosed by a low stone seat wall. The garden is centered on a stone terrace for outdoor dining and a fire pit for evening activities. The fire pit was designed to recall campfire cooking pots used by the cavalry. Plant materials were selected to complement the history of the building and include Star Magnolia, Roses and columnar Yews.
The project received an Honor Award in Historic Preservation from the San Francisco Chapter of the AIA in 2013.
