SWLA is currently working on a new out-patient vision center for Stanford University Hospital. The Byers Institute will be located in an existing office building that is being converted into a medical facility. The site improvements include creation of an accessible all-weather entry for patients and two new gardens. The first will be a ‘Vision Garden’ and will serve patients, visitors and clinic staff. The space will include an outdoor events patio as well as several areas for users to sit and enjoy the garden. Plants will be selected for their color, texture and scent to help create a place that can be enjoyed by both the sited and the visually impaired. The second garden will be a small view garden that can be enjoyed by patients from within the recovery rooms in the clinic.
