The Tiburon Ferry Plaza, located on the waterfront next to Main Street, is actively used throughout the year by commuters, residents and visitors to Tiburon. Improvements to the plaza were initially proposed to facilitate access to the ferry dock and to the Golden Gate Transit buses that serve the ferry lines. Preliminary plans prepared by other consultants addressed basic programmatic issues but did nothing to enhance the character of this important public space. Following review of the preliminary plans, the team recommended the complete redesign of the project area to include a new plaza with seating and bicycle parking, reconfiguration of turf covered berms, replacement of existing docks and the installation of new signage and lighting.
