Beauchamps Park is a two acre neighborhood park in Saratoga, California. Starting with a preliminary program that had been outlined by the city, the program and design concept for the park were developed through a series of workshops with local residents. The park includes a tennis court, a half-basketball court, a children’s playground, a picnic area, and an open lawn area for informal games. The design of the park zones these activities into two areas that are connected by a pathway that provides access through the site. The landscape concept for the park reinforces the layout of the site, combining native plant species with flowering fruit trees that recall the natural and agricultural heritage of the surrounding Santa Clara Valley.
